odds and ends

This morning I went to Biola at 8 am to take a "General Clerical Test." That time in the morning is not a good time to start remembering your multiplication tables, especially when you have between 3.5 and 7 minutes per page to do so. Does anyone remember what 7 x 6 is, or how to, without a calculator, find 13% of $1927.86? >>>>> NOT ME. I'm an adult, and I use a calculator, thank you very much.

I haven't left the house once today. It's one of those sleepy rainy days where the sun is still shining through the clouds and the grey glow of light through the window makes you want to curl up in bed all day. Zack and I are treasuring the last days that we get all to ourselves before he starts work next Monday.

And speaking of beds we finally got one! Yes, we have been sleeping on a pull out couch mattress this whole time. It wasn't as bad as it sounds.

I'm not quite sure what they had in mind when they were building this apartment complex in the 20's, but for some reason they took the term bedroom quite literally, making the room just big enough for a bed and nothing else. Thus, we have decided to put the bed in the living room, which is now the bedroom, which is confusing. We're still trying to figure out how this arrangement will work out when we have visitors, but for now, whatever, its awesome.

Couch or no couch experimentation:

make me an indie film starring this character

this morning my current employer pulled out a little baggie of cut up papayas and asked if it was mine. i don't know who's going around putting little baggies of cut up papayas in people's refrigerators, but whoever it is, i want to befriend them cuz i feel like that's a really nice thing to do and they'd be super considerate with every day things.

The Countdown is on...

...Till we move. 4 days, possibly less if we can get the key early. No packing done yet. Screwed.

Hooray!

Zack is now employed! He interviewed earlier this week up the street at Trilogy video, a mom and pop video store that has been open for years. I know what you're thinking, do video stores still exist? Apparently this one does and with quite a backlist of inventory I'm excited to see what new gems we can dig up.

Speaking of gems, has anyone seen The Fly ala Jeff Goldblum and his mullet? It took me through a whole gamut of emotions: amazed, disturbed and at the end left me crying? Such a confusing experience. Am I wrong?

!?

i was talking to a professional scuba diver today who gets hired by the sheriff and local police to search for evidence underwater at various locations. he does jobs at lake kaweah sometimes. he told me that there ARE IN FACT 6 foot catfish in lake kaweah! beth and kt know what i mean..... little old lake kaweah.....6 foot catfish. anyways i found it completely inspiring.
Well, I had an interview at Gap but didn't get it, which I guess I'm okay with (not really). Yesterday I wore an entirely green outfit while applying to be a receptionist at a retirement home. Green dress, green sweater, green leggings. I'm hoping it helped my chances.

In other news I'm pretty sure our upstairs neighbor is a murderer. I am almost always awoken at three in the morning to a lot of strange dragging sounds. In stunned silence Georgie and I stare up at the ceiling wondering if we're next.
so i'm moving to oklahoma soon. my family doesn't know yet, so prob don't tell them if you see them around. i wanted to leave july 1, then my job here got almost unbearable so i bumped it to june 1, then every good band in the world decided to play in LA in june, so i think it's bumped back to july 1. unless the oklahoma job i have an interview for tomorrow tells me i need to be there june 1. then i'll hate the irony of all the above.

Hey friends

WELP, last weekend, i got laid off from my managerial position at pizza factory, and 72 hours later was hired* at the visalia wal-mart. i don't know what to think yet, but i'm glad i found something so quickly. i thought for sure i needed leprosy, or at least scurvy to work there, but it turns out, it's going to be harder than that:.... i need to pass a drug test in the next 24 hours......

with all our modern technology you'd think we would have figured out how to fax urine to eachother by now, but this surprisingly isn't the case. instead, we fax boring things like criminal records and positive drug test results. and i can't even think of one religion that prohibits peeing in a cup, to use as an excuse.

"at least i don't do meth, right?"

NOM

Zack and I are pinching pennies which means we have cut back significantly on eating out (we make lots of buttery noodles). Yesterday, however, we did manage to make a trip to Burgerville. Turns out it's awesome. And they recycle. In fact, it seems everyone up here does. Its not just the trees that are green in Portland. It's the people too. Get it???????

Mmm...Rosemary fries.

Untitled

So on Saturday we took Kenny and Laura, our Buffy-loving friends, to Union Station, where they departed for Portland and then their hometown for two months. Yes, two more friends lost to the great state of Oregon. We mourned by going to the Moca, which exhausted us enough to decide that going home, pulling out the hide-a-bed from the depths of the couch (along with some choice morsels that had been trapped in there for a VERY long time), and watching movies for the rest of the day would be a good idea.

Yesterday I had a heart palpitation that lasted about fifteen seconds, caused me to see stars and very nearly pass out, left me lightheaded and sweaty. I'm not doing great without you guys here.

GEORGIE MISSES YOU TOO

We are lonely souls up in Portland and miss our friends terribly! So far we've only really managed to become acquainted with our across the hall neighbor who frequently helps us haul couches into our apartment. We have four. I think I'm addicted to free stuff on craigslist.

Georgie is happy in his new home and has started cooing once again. He has taken to finding plastic eggs and pom poms throughout the apartment in the night and placing them inside my shoes.

Looking for jobs is as enjoyable as ever. Zack's dad got us a job doing "research" for an AARP article he's writing about the best breweries in America. Basically we got paid to drink free, delicious beer. It was awesome.

My camera battery charger has gone missing and thus I have taken zero pictures since we've been here, except for photobooth.

Here's one from the day Zack and I got nose zits:

I MISS ME SOME GEORGIE

I do. I miss Beth too. And I suppose Zach also. Beth, you should show us some pictures of your (I'm sure) quaint and quirky and delightful new home. I need to feel like I'm still part of your lifffeeeee. In the meanwhile, Here Is A Picture of Fhloston Paradise:

I was hoping for a White Wonder, but they all seemed ill tempered. So we settled for a Georgie look-alike. The she-version is much dumber.

i miss those of you living in portland and visalia.
lets write about how much we like each other.
